From May - September River Street Sweets must implement a warm weather shipping policy in order to guarantee that our Chocolates arrive at your door in the best condition possible. Please follow the guidelines listed below, and do not hesitate to call 1-800-793-3876 if you're unsure about anything.
Shipments containing Chocolate items and going to the following states will require a 2 day air upgrade with an additional cost of $11.95 per item that the upgrade is applied to: See our Express Shipping page for more information. WA, OR, CA, NV, ID, MT, WY, CO, NM, AZ, UT, IL, TX, OK, KS, NE, SD, ND, MN, WI, IA, MO, AR, NY, VT, ME, NH, MA, & RI.
Complimentary Coolers and Cold Packs – Orders containing chocolate will be packaged in coolers with cold packs or dry ice at no additional charge. This special packaging guarantees the quality of the candy for up to 2 days and will gradually defrost during transit. Any shipment traveling outside of the standard 2 day delivery area will need express shipping. Please follow the States guide above when ordering.
From May – Sept we ship Monday through Thursday to keep your packages from being delayed with UPS over the weekend and to guarantee freshness.
Where possible, please make sure that someone is available to receive the package and take it to an air conditioned area. UPS will leave a package on your porch if no one is home, however UPS & River Street Sweets cannot be help responsible for melting when packages are left in this manner.
To avoid weekend transit time, Orders may be shipped on the following Monday.
Packages being shipped to International addresses, Alaska, Hawaii, or PO Boxes cannot be upgraded to express. We suggest shipping more temperature stable items Such as our Pralines and Glazed Pecans during the summer for these address types. Please call if you would like assistance with choosing items. We want your gifts to arrive in perfect condition, and are happy to help.
THURSDAY shipments – Next Business Day Express - should be selected on all Chocolate items if they are being shipped on Thursday (ordered on Wednesday) so that they do not sit with UPS over the weekend. Exceptions to this are locations that are already in a 1 day time frame. These areas include parts of Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. Please call for details if you are unsure about transit times. See our shipping time frame map as well.
