Sweet Summer

A Sweet, Sweet Summer

It's hard to believe, but this was our 44th summer season here at River Street Sweets. We not only made lots of wonderful treats in the summer of '17, but lots of memories, too. For starters, we opened two new franchise stores in Key West, Florida and Lancaster, Pennsylvania to help continue our new tradition of bringing pralines to a store near you! In May, we were delighted to learn that we were ranked as one of 2017's Top New Franchises by Entrepreneur Magazine. Soon after, Food Network named our pralines as one of Georgia's most iconic foods.

In June, we celebrated National Praline Day with you, our guests, and because of that were able to donate 10% of all praline sales to the Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia's Kids Cafe program. We love to feed people here at River Street Sweets, so we really appreciate the fact that the Kids Cafe program provides meals to children at risk for hunger, as well as tutoring and a safe haven after school. It sure was sweet being able to write them a check for $3,342.

Following that came Christmas in July, when we had our annual holiday photoshoot for our catalogs. The shoot wouldn't have been complete without a surprise visit from Santa, who, we learned, is trading in his cookies and milk for pralines!

Also that month, we had a fabulous write-up in the July/August issue of Family Business magazine, only to be topped soon after that by a spread in South Magazine, where our own Tim and Jennifer Strickland are honored to be named some of the top bosses in the south!!!

What's your sweetest memory from summer, 2017? Send it to JenM@riverstreetsweets.com. And in the meantime, stay sweet!

How the time flies... We may be celebrating 2017, but we'll never forget that we have over 40 sweet years of tradition. Enjoy this 'blast from the past' video of our Savannah store from 5 years ago and let us know what you want to see in our next video!
